A prestigious development of over 900 units in London had been specified with pod bathrooms. Whilst the development was still under construction leaks started occurring from the pipe joints within the bathroom pods. Leaksafe were asked to install leak detection within the pod walls under pipework and joints and zoned so that the contractor knew exactly which section of pipework was leaking.
We installed our WaterComm notification system with 4 zones of leak detection tape behind and under showers, baths, basins and WCs, with the WaterComm control panel discreetly mounted in the Vanity unit. If any of the tapes get wet an alarm is sent to the M&E team giving the precise location of the leak so that they can get to it before any damage is caused.
Although not specified in the ER’s the client is retaining the leak detection in the pods after handover and considering extending the system to include the kitchens and HIU’s.
